Hi guys!
I was wondering if anyone here has found some good tunnels, either DIY or manufactured that maybe are not PVC piping? I've read some things that are starting to really put me off of those. Please feel free to say otherwise! Information is great! I would also for sure like to stay away from cardboard as Charlie had a mite issue recently and I cannot sterilize cardboard or wood. He had a cardboard one before and loved it and now I think he's sad that it's gone, he's not as interested in playtime and just want to sleep on me. I am also looking into some soft fleece ones I've seen on etsy but open to exploring options! Thanks! |

Can I ask what you've read about PVC piping that's made you change your mind about them?
Also, ferret tunnels are a popular option. They come in fleece, plastic tubing, or a crinkle material. I got the Super Pet Crinkle Tunnel for my hedgehog and she absolutely loves it. I just throw some fleece strips in there and she loves to burrow in it. It's also pretty easy to clean, though it's absorbent (but dries quickly). |

Thanks for the tip! I've read a few thins about PVC leaching chemicals when heated and as charlie has a heat lamp I'm not to sure? Though there are also studies that say it's okay. I know it's quite popular in the hedgie community. It's an option but if I could stay away from it that would be nice. I like that it's cleanable tabs comes in various lengths and curves and things though. |

Hmm, that's interesting, definitely something to look into. I'll probably give that a google myself! It's safer to be extra cautious when it comes to hedgehogs and their well-being/safety, so if you're uncomfortable with PVC piping, definitely look into the ferret tunnels. Fleece tunnels on Etsy are awesome too, I know a lot of users on this forum sell hedgehog stuff on their Etsy pages so definitely look around

So is a DIY silent wheel, made w/ PVC for the stand, not good to use for hedgies? I mean, 1 of the most popular wheels sold is the carolina bucket wheel, made with PVC. Would like to know before I get or make my hedgie a wheel. I'm getting her in 2 weeks & would like to have her new home completely set up, so I'm not messing around her while she's getting acclimated. Any feedback would be appreciated.
