My hedgie is bored, all the time! I give him a new toy, he plays with it for a few hours, then starts making a mess of everything (which he does when he's bored). His favorite thing to do is sit in his water dish, and not come out (he has a water bottle as well for backup). It's really hard to get him out without spilling water all over the fleece liners/shavings.
Toys he has: Wheel - He just sits on his and chills Toilet Paper Rolls - He loves to push into the area of his cage that has shavings and fill it up until it's buried Cat Balls with Bells - Pushes them into his hedgie hut or behind his wheel Rubber Balls - Pushes them into his hedgie hut or behind his wheel Plastic Easter Eggs with treats in them to make noise - He hoards these in his hedgie hut, he won't let me near them without making a scene Random boxes - Puts toys in them and treats he's saving for later (I guess?) Sock Stuffed with Bedding - His favourite thing to drag around Pinecones (Baked) - Hoards them in his hedgie hut as well He has a big C&C cage, and lots of space to run around (42" x 28" with a loft connected by a dryer vent tube). I've tried everything, and nothing entertains him for more than a few hours after I put it in. After a few hours he puts it in his house, PVC pipe or Kleenex box and never touches it again, nor does he want me to take it. He's a hoarder ![]() |

![]() How about... - dig box - with fleece strips - rock garden - large food dish with aquarium gravel - hide n' seek - hide kibble or treats in his cage, dig box and rock garden - hanging toys - he can't hoard these!! i covered a cat ball with a bell in fleece and hung it - challenge him with boxes inside boxes - maybe a mealie in the inside box?

He ends up with so much stuff in his house that he doesn't fit, so he sleeps in the "entrance" with his butt sticking out! ![]() |

I bought Luna a new toy this weekend. It is a pet stages kitten toy. It has a little fish on a thick string with a suction cup at the end. I looped the suction cup through the top of her cage to hold it in place and she likes to yank and tug on the fish. A hanging toy is something they can't take and hide and you can put it different parts of the cage to make it interesting and new.
I would love to see pictures of your hedgie with his hidden toys. You have a little hedgie hoarder on your hands.

Your hedgie sounds hilarious. Maybe he could go on that TV show 'hoarders'....
I especially get a kick out of the fact that he won't let you take anything away. I agree with everyone else - we need to see photos of his stash(es)!

I did the fleece strip box, 2 out of 3 love it...but get bored if I leave it in too long. I tried hanging balls from the tops of their cages, but saw no proof they even noticed them lol I'm going to look for the plastic eggs and try that. I'm thinking about the rock garden, but I'm worried they might try to eat the gravel anyway.

My Herc is a huge hoarder too! He drags his paper towel from under his wheel back to the pigloo, 2 or 3 little stuffed animals, fleece strips and his tp tube, and makes a nest!

How old are all these hedgies. My Hazel doesn't play with anything. I tried tp rolls, pieces of fleece and plastic bottle tops. She will organized the bottle tops every once in a while but not all the time. I tried looking for cat balls but didn't see anything I thought would be safe for her. She is about 3 and a half months old.
