Default Wheel Problems

So my hedgehog is a year and a half old and has suddenly stopped running on her wheel. She used to run on it every night but because of the cold and harsh winter I had, she stopped running on it and would only come out of her warm place to eat and drink water.

Now it's the summer, typical weather is 72 degrees and higher, and she has yet to run on her wheel. At first I thought it was because of the sound the wheel makes. She's a very scared hedgehog where slight movements and loud noises cause her to curl into a ball. She's so skittish that it's nearly impossible to cut her nails.

I have tried a new wheel, only to realize that the wheel is too small for her, I have tried cutting her nails shorter than I usually do thinking she feels pain every time she runs. I have tried making my room as dark as possible so she will run and yet I have no luck. I have placed a piece of felt on top of the wheel as a marker to see if she runs on the wheel. I KNOW she isn't hibernating because she will eat and drink and she isn't overheating.

She has grown up with a wheel and now the closest she'll get to the wheel is to do her "business" and will run off and sleep as soon as she's done.

I don't know what to do or what is wrong. Any advice would be helpful at this point.

1) How many hours of total 100% darkness does your hedgie get? Some hedgehogs will absolutely refuse to come out and be active if any lights are on.

2) Your hedgehogs may be affected by the temperature, even now. Try getting her cage's temperature up above 73 degrees or you risk hibernation and death. Even in winter, your hedgehog needs a warm area. Use central heating, a space heater, or a Ceramic Heat Emitter (CHE) bulb and clamp lamp attached to a thermostat with a probe inside the cage.

Having a warmer temp may drastically help her activity level

3) What kind of wheel do you have for her?

She gets 12 hours of light and 12 hours of complete darkness.

When I got her, her previous owner said that the temperature that she is used to is 70 degrees but I will try to see if increasing the heat will work. She isn't hibernating because her belly is warm and she doesn't wobble whenever I take her out to play. When I take her out, she will start running around the room really quick looking for a place to hide and sleep. She does this no matter the lighting intensity in the room. I can have it on almost dark and she will still just run and try to find a place to hide.

I don't know if she is just a extremely lazy hedgehog or what.

The wheel she has is a typical hedgehog wheel about 12 inches wide and does not have slits like the hamster wheels. It's the wheel she has grown up with with her previous owner.
