We found a ferret play area about 1 foot square and has 2 holes about 2 inches in diameter across from each other to be connected to plastic tubes. They had a bag full of little colored plastic balls to make like a ball crawl area for ferrets. We put a liner in the bathtub so Sammy wont slip around and we put about 8 balls in the play area and he loves to push the balls around. He can crawl out the holes and run around the tub with more of the balls. I put him it there when I clean his cage. He cant escape in the bathtub.
He has a small stuffed dog that can be positioned to lay flat or sit up. Sammy crawls under it and has walked with it on his back. ![]() |

That's so cute! Oh I never thought of where I would put my hedgies while I was cleaning their cage... and I would have 2! ... I really like the bathtub idea, or maybe I'll fence off a little area and put their clean toys in there. Yeah I love the stuffed animal idea where the hedgehog can cuddle up or drag it or play with it =).

I bought some cat toys (balls and stuffed toys) when I first got my hedgies, but they really seem to prefer to play with my dogs toys instead. Bebop gets soooo excited to run up to the pile of stuffed dog toys and bites them and drags them across the floor even though they are so much bigger than him!

They aren't really chewers, but if the stuffed animals are small enough, the hedgehog may drag it around by its teeth (I've seen youtube vids of this, and with hedgies you never know what they'll do anyways).
I really doubt a hedgehog would commonly tear into a stuffed animals, but I just think better safe than sorry ![]() Those toys look pretty cute, but I'd take the bell off the mouses' tail, just to be safe. If your hedgie bit that, that would hurt, and he could get his claw stuck in the opening, not to mention the little bell ball inside could come out and be choking hazard for the curious hedgie. The hard ball made of rubbery/plastic I am not sure about, because if a cat can break pieces off of those (my cat loves destorying those), a hedgie might (but probably not) be able to do the same, so just be careful with that one. Other than that, just make sure they don't fall apart with time, as with any toy for hedgies. I have 4 stuffed animals for my new little baby, and my rescue adult doesn't like much in terms of fuzzy things (she's used to newspaper, but I still have a fleece liner, just no snuggle sack or anything because she ignores them). Pindsvin cannot escape the fuzziness of his home ![]() ![]()

I just got this cute little snuggling cuddle buddies monkey for my hedgie today - but I didn't see that it has 2% catnip in it. So I took out the stitching around the tag and took out the bit of catnip/stuffing and sewed it back up. Voila!

I will make a note and take the bell off the mouses tail. (maybe I can use it to make another toy!) Yeah I was unsure about the rubbery plastic like ball, that might just be for supervised play only.
OHHH that monkey looks so cute! If my hedgies don't like the other ones then I will go buy this! and it's so affordable too! =D |

If you take the catnip out and just sew it up, I'd think it'd be a bit...floppy. it'd be a floppy monkey!
![]() It is cute. It looks like it's just ready to hug you ![]()
