I recall seeing someone having a container filled with pom poms in their hedgie cage. Has anyone here done this? Are they safe?
Do hedgehogs like this? Is it generally something that most hedgies would like? I vaguely recall that they person with these would hide mealworms or kibble among the pom poms.

I'm guessing the very little pompoms would not be a good idea in case the hedgie mistakes them as food. I'd imagine the hedgie would probably enjoy climbing over/between bigger ones
Also I would make sure they were good quality so they wouldn't unravel and potentially get parts stuck in the hedgie's mouth or claws. |

Oh, yes. The photo I posted does have various sizes of pom poms. But the ones I saw with hedgies were all around an inch or more in diameter.
I wonder if anyone here has used them. Do they stick to their quills?

You can use medium or large pom poms not small, but please do check for complaints about them unravelling first to make sure they are safe, and dont have a high chance if this happening. Hedgehogs love to dig in them and they dont get caught in quills.
You can hide food in there too - A lot of people call it a forage tray where I am, this helps encourage natural seraching for food and keeps them more active. You can also use something carefresh, finacard for these trays, as well as other balls and not just pom poms. |
