Default Falling off wheel?

So i was wondering if anybody else's hedgehogs would run so fast on their wheel that they fall off? Every once in a while i hear Luna fall into the litter pan under her wheel (filled with Aspen) i am not super worried bout her getting hurt cause she seems to like it, she gets right back on the wheel and continues to run (with stops every once in a while to scratch) So just wondering if other hedgies do this or if she just happens to love her wheel that much... Also on the topic of wheels... she will only scratch when she is on it (i.e running) she scratches quite often... but never does it any where else, so i am alittle confused?

What kind of wheel do you have? When I first got my Carolina Storm Wheel, Petunia kept falling off of it because she wasn't used to it (I had switched her from a Flying Saucer). I adjusted it so it tilted up slightly, which seemed to help. You should video tape it I'm sure it's cute to watch.

What do you use to clean the wheel? Maybe her skin is irritated by the soap or cleaner used, and that's why she scratches when she's on it.

She uses the Super Pet Large Comfort Wheel, its her first wheel. Also i only washed it for the first time today and used Nature Clean Unscented dish soap.. yes i will have to get a video of her on it... mind you it'll have to be with a night vision camera because she refuses to run when there is anylight but my laptop on...

My hedgehog has a Silent spinner wheel and actually has a curve to it. This might help prevent your hedgehog from falling off.

Two links to show you what it looks like.

Most people here say not to use the silent spinner, here's one of many threads about the reasons why viewtopic.php?f=43&t=14937

she isn't falling off as much any more... instead she will get off so she can play in her litter pan... i am guessing it was because of it being her first ever wheel

Prim would fall off here wheel when she first got it. I just put some extra fleece under it because I was a paranoid hedgie momma lol. She does a lot better now. I have caught her trying to itch before the wheel comes to a complete stop and it will cause her to loose her balance and "roll out". It's really really funny when she does that.
