Default Playtime?

Hey fellow hedgie owners,

I'm finding it hard to find toys and things for my hedgehog to interact with. Her cage only has her wheel in it at the moment because her paper-based litter and poo gets onto anything else that I put in there.

I can't leave toilet tubes in the cage, with a slit down the side, because she always manages to put it on her head, then attempts to drink so it falls into the water bowl and is soggy mush by the morning _

Whenever she comes out in the evening I let her run around my room and hold her until she gets a bit fidgety, but she only seems to want to hide under the wardrobe. She used to enjoy chasing her toothbrush and chewing on it, but she got bored of that game quickly. She does seem to take interest in exploring, loves stretching, climbing into my overnight bag, new smells and sticking her head into gaps.

She's a fussy eater and even turns her nose up at mealworms sometimes so food bribes rarely work.

Any tips/tricks/toy suggestions?

We have a couple of cat balls in there (ones with no openings) that she pushes around sometimes.

It could just be that you have a hedgehog that simply doesn't like to play. My little guy is like this as well. I've given him dig boxes, piles of fleece strips, TP tubes, balls, a Kong, and a few other things, but none of those interest him. If they're in his pen, he intentionally walks around them to avoid them entirely. Apart from his wheel which he loves, the only thing he'll "play" with is his PVC pipe, but he shoves it around with his snout rather than actually crawl through it.
