Default Hot Wheels Toy Cars?

Are these OK to put in my hedgehog's cage as a toy?

I have seen people do this, but you would want to use one that doesnt have holes or sharp points.

I prefer using plastic trucks. The hot wheels cars are metal (or something similar?), and small and sharp for the most part.

I would disagree they are sharp for the most part as they are small children's toys as I recall at least from when I played with them some two decades ago I never cut myself or poked myself.

The only thing to really worry about was mentioned don't let any windows or opening be on the vehicles.

Canadian is right about plastic cars being a good idea too, still make sure to be careful of small openings.

The reason about the openings is they could get their mouths, nails, feet, etc caught.

If you go into the toddler's toy section, they have little cars made completely out of plastic. I have one of those. I did offer Delia a Hot Wheels car monitored once, but she liked the plastic truck more.

It really depends on the individual hotwheel. Instead of buying one in the store where you can only see the hotwheel through the packaging, look for them at places like garage sales, good will, friends houses, etc, so you can feel for sharp edges. My nephew had a bunch of them in his toy box and he helped me pick one out for me to take home to my Mildred. Some of them are a little sharp, and some of them had holes, but there were some that were fine as well.

When I was little, I collected SOO many hot wheels.. And I recently remembered I had a whole case full of them! About 80 that were sitting there for a few years. The one I have is covered all over, no windows or openings, and it's pretty heavy so it wont be able to flip over.

the toy cars/trucks in the baby section of toy stores are great! most are completely made of tough rubber and have wheels that don't easily come off. I get these for my cockatoo to play with as well, he likes to push things around the bottom of this cage. my only worry with giving them hot wheels is if the wheels came off if they chewed on them. also i'm a hot wheels collector....i can't part with giving my toys to my pets! some of them are worth some $$$.

I let my hedgies play with them, the only thing i do to the cars would be to sanitize them almost every 3 days because they do poop on them and I take out the plastic windows on a few of them, just because of the style it effects on if they will chew on them or not. ( I do buy the plastic ones only if they wont break easily.)
