Your vet is probably avoiding baytril because of the issues it can cause and doesn't feel it is needed. Septra is fine for hedgehogs. The time frame for getting better depends on the individual animal as well as the severity of the illness. Usually it takes 48 hours for there to be any noticeable improvement and sometimes longer than that.
Make certain she is still eating and drinking well and her cage stays nice and warm.
