Are any of theese foods good for Hedgies?

Hi guys!

Does anyone feed either
Wellness Healthy Weight Adult Dry Cat Food,
By Nature Weight Control Dry Cat Food, or
Blue Buffalo Spa Select Weight Control Formula Cat Food to their Hedgies?


If so which one and does your hedgehog like it. If you dont feed either to your hedgie what do you feed him/her?

The Blue Buffalo is one of the 6 in our mix and all our hoggies eat it.

Our mis has the below high quality cat foods in:

Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul Lite, Solid Gold Katz n Floken, Now! Lite, Authority Sensative, Blue Buffalo Spa Select Weight Control and Nutrience.

We also feed a mix of vegies that are pureed with chicken and fruits pureed with natural plain yogurt. In addition they get an array of bugs, mealies, waxworms, crickets etc

We tried the other two you listed and none of my guys would eat them.

Hi and i only want to feed one food because i feed smudgie unseasoned cooked chicken and fruits so thx

Even if you feed other foods besides cat foods, it's still a good idea to have two foods in a mix to feed. The reasoning behind this is because hedgehogs are so picky, if the formula of the food is changed suddenly, or the food is recalled and you have to get a different one, they will often get an upset stomach because of the sudden change, or refuse to eat entirely. If you have two different foods that they're used to, at least you have one familiar food that they'll still eat.

That said, Wellness Healthy Weight should be used with caution. It's very rich and has caused stomach upset for some hedgehogs when fed alone or as a large part of the diet. I don't know about the other two foods though. I use Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul Lite, Natural Balance Green Pea & Duck, Solid Gold Katz'n'Flocken, and Innova Low Fat Adult Cat Food.
