Default Dog Food?

I was just wondering if there is any dog foods that hedgies can eat? It would make my mom's desicion a lot easier if there was because we have two dogs already, and if we have to we can change their diet. I was looking on google and everywhere it says cat food, I know it needs at least 30% protein and less then 12% fat. If you know of any names of foods that would be amazing. (Honestly I would rather get cat food and be done with it but moms are moms and will always have their way.)

You might want to give people time to reply instead of "bumping" your post right after posting it.

Most dog food is to big and to hard for hedgies. Some people have had some luck adding a dog food meant for a toy breed, so the pieces are smaller, but they still usually just have it in a mix with catfood. I personally haven't heard of anyone feeding just dog food.

Also..if you mom doesn't want to spend extra on different foods for your hedgie, how happy is she going to be if you're hedgie gets sick and needs an emergency trip to the vet? which can be very expensive, or at either having to run a space heater or a CHE 24/7 to keep the cage at an steady 72-76*F?

LOL, the OP bumped within the first minute of posting!

Dog food in general is made in too large and hard of pieces for a hedgie to be able to eat. This can wear down their teeth a lot, even if cut into small pieces, so dog food should be fed crushed or softened. Follow the same guidelines as cat food when looking at ingredients and nutritional analysis.

Well, I am the one paying for everything (including vet) and my older sister promised to take me to the vet when needed. My mom kinda just thought as a suggestion to try dog food. And with the space heater or lamp my dad is an electrician so he knows how to conserve engergy and summers, fall, and spring where I live are pretty warm usually mid to upper 80s.

The conservation of energy is a great thing but the only thing is whether conserving or not they need to be kept at around 75 and some like it a few degrees warmer. They also need 12 to 14 hours of light. I'm not saying to be discouraging but just to make sure in case you didn''t know. Those factors are just as important as picking a good food in my opinion because hibernation attempts can be fatal. That's really nice of your sister to offer to take you to the vets but you may need to think of a back up in case for some reason her schedule conflicts when there is an emergency.

With the food -I haven't found a dog food yet that meets all the recommended numbers, not that they aren't out there just that I don't have one to recommend because I haven't come across one. There is a lot of good foods on the recommended cat food list. Even though hedgehogs don't eat a lot there food mixes do cost a small fortune
