Hello! I have had two hedgehogs for about a year now. They have been eating chicken soup for the cat lovers soul as their sole kibble, with teats in addition. Treats very from eggs, veggie hedgehog treats, as well as a fairly consistent amount of mealworms. (The treats are separate and not part of the kibble.)
I want to make my own food mix to add variety to their diet, but really have no idea what to do besides make sure to add different meats. I want to keep chicken soup for the cat lovers soul because my hedges like it. I was thinking about also adding Natural Balance Green Pea and Duck because I have heard such great reviews. Is 2 kibbles enough or should I look to add more? Also should I be adding anything besides cat food. I greatly appreciate any advice you can give me on how to move forward with the mix. Thank you! |

It's a great idea to make a mix! Natural Balance is a very good brand, and you could give it a try. Lily liked it until they changed their kibble, then liked it a bit less. I've heard kind of hit-and-miss results with other hedgehogs that have had it tried with them, but if they like it, it's a good food. Introduce it slowly, but I would add in more than 2 kibbles, depending on how much they eat in one night total. You could do 1/2 and 1/2, or 3/4 and 1/4 or whatever you want for ratios of Chicken Soup to Natural Balance. You could also add in a third food if they like Natural Balance and do equal parts of each.
