Default No veggies?

My hedgehog Charlie has been eating cat food for his whole life. He refuses to eat any fruits or veggies I give him,. But he LOVES mealworms. Is there anyway I can get him to like them? or will he just forever be a picky eater. When I was researching them everyone talked about their hedgehogs favorite treats and how they anoint. I've only had Charlie anoint once for a mealworm. thank, Anya

Fiona didn't really like fruits or veggies either. Maybe once in a blue moon she'd eat a tiny piece of strawberry. She did love baby food, however. Particularly the apple banana. It took a little coaxing and she didn't ALWAYS want it, but she loved the sweetness of it. It's pretty cheap so maybe worth a shot? It was cute watching her lick the plate clean lol

Sorry this is a bit of a late response, but it looks like you could use a bit more help on this. What I typically tell people is that if they don't want to eat fruits or veggies, no big deal. Don't try to push it or feel bad because your hedgie doesn't eat them - they don't need them at all, they get enough carbs from their food. We humans just like to think fruits and veggies are good for them, because they're good for us. Hedgehogs naturally primarily eat insects and are a bit more like scavengers than straight out omnivores that willingly will go eat considerable amounts of plant matter. The best treats to feed are insects, so if he likes mealies, that's great. You could try roaches or crickets with him as well as a less fattening option for getting him a variety of healthy treats.
