Default Another Insect Question

I’m probably very annoying with these insect stuff, but...
I just found a fly in my mealworm container. Alive.
It doesn’t seem like it’s able to fly, not sure what happened to it.

I picked it up and placed it in a bowl. I’m about to throw it out. How are parasites transferred? Could the fly have transferred parasites to the mealworms while it was in the enclosure? Should I avoid feeding Igor any mealworms?

Parasites can be transmitted via a bite, or through ingestion - i.e the mealworms eat fly waste.

I'd be wary of feeding my hedgehog mealworms that had flies in them. However, if the fly wasnt there when you bought them, it is quite possibly a Black Soldier Fly that hatched; calciworms/black solder fly larvae are a common feeder insect, and it's possible that one of the larvae ended up in your batch of mealworms and hatched. In which case, the mealworms would still be fine to feed.

Oof... now is that a no or a yes.. 😂😂

Oh no, ok so I googled what black soldier flies look like and the one I found in the container didn’t look anything like that.
Soo, I’ll probably have to throw the whole container out and wait till the end of the month to get new worms.
