Default Freeze-dried liver

So I recently went to the vet for Stella, and while they were getting were listening to her heartbeat, they gave her some freeze-dried liver to distract her. She really loved it and I was wondering if it was a treat that I could continue to give her and if so how often I can give it to her. Thanks ☺️

Hey there! I’ve given Christina freeze dried chicken in the past with no issues. As long as it’s cooked, you shouldn’t have a problem. The main concern with feeding freeze dried insects is that the drying process loses an enzyme that helps hedgies digest the chitin in insect exoskeletons. Obviously that’s not present with organs or meat, so I’d say you should be fine giving it to your hedgehog as a treat!
Hope this helps 🙂

I wouldnt use it as an every day treat, perhaps once week at most.
As said freeze dried cooked meats and organs arent as bad as freeze dried insects. But I still wouldnt give it too often.

freeze dried meat is a fine treat, with something so rich like liver I would probably keep it to once/twice a week. i have a variety of freeze dried meat for my girl, but I tend to break them in half; i gave her a full one once (cat sized) and it stuck to the roof of her mouth, so it was a traumatic experience. I don't know how common that is, because i've split the cubes in half ever since, but just something to be aware of.
