I use Halo and I like the consistency of the kibble (I soak it in water for my boy and it swells up and mushes down well. I also use natural balance the green pea duck one but I don't like the consistency, it's rock hard and my boy struggled to eat it, even soaked it takes ages to soften and mush. Also I don't really like that green pea and pea protein are both in the top 5 ingredients, I'd go for the turkey one if I was to repurchase. But I plan to stop using this brand and try something else (I mix at least 3-4 types of kibble). Also I have heard others say they didn't have issues with natural balance as in it was soft so I could have a dodge bag perhaps.

Thank you for the response.

What do you plan on trying next?

That's ok!

I'm not entirely sure yet, since I'm based in Japan I don't have access to many premium foreign brands. I use Now Fresh senior as his main food and add halo chicken and halo salmon (the salmon one has made his poops smell a little stronger and gives him smelly gas!) and the natural balance. Unfortunately I purchased the natural balance in a big size bag so I'm only half way through it as I only use 25x pieces a day from it so I won't be buying another brand anytime soon. I was thinking of blue buffalo (a hair ball control one as I think my hedgehog sometimes eats the fleece fibres that get stuck in his nails from him attempting to dig and then eats it when he cleans his feet ><) but I'm not so sure since the brand gets mixed reviews...

I used the cat food recommend list on here and also volcanic view hedgehogs recommended food list to choose

Thank you for your response!

I will look into the Now Fresh Senior.

My wife and I were just in Japan in October, and went to a hedgehog cafe in Akihabara called Cheese; it was such a fun experience!

No worries at all

Ah how awesome you came to Japan, hope you enjoyed it!
Oh I haven't heard of that one, there are quite a few animal cafes popping up now! I went to one in harajuku back in January and they had lesser tenrecs! First time I got to hold one and fell in love with it ~ was so sweet and calm, it didn't want to let go of me haha ^^. They're pretty expensive to buy here though, hopefully one day I can give one a forever home!

Enjoy being hedgie parents to Nacho! ☆

We absolutely loved Japan, and are going to plan another trip back! I've never seen/held a tenrec, so I might need to check out that cafe in Harajuku; if so, maybe you can join my wife and I.

In regards to the thread topic, I've tried several different foods, and he refuses to even nibble at any of them; I tried mixing it with the old food, mixing it with turkey baby food (his favorite), grinding it up and sprinkling it over his old food, adding warm water to it, and also putting it in a separate dish. I was forced to buy another bag of Blue Buffalo Wilderness, but I also purchased a bag of Blue Buffalo Wilderness Mature which has less protein and fat; I'm hoping he will transition easily since it is the same brand, same line, and practically same ingredients.
