Default Have you noticed a difference?

I don't know if this applies to hedgehogs, but I know it does for dogs. Some dog food that you feed your dog is absorbed or digested better and so they don't poop as much. Have any of you switched your hedgie to a different dry food and noticed that they pooped less? I'm curious to know if any of you have experienced this with your hedgehog.

I'd like to know, what was the bad food that she was on, and what are you feeding her now?

I recently added another food to Flowers diet, because she was pooing less. She ia also a small hedgie, and I felt like something was off. Since the food was added, the poo has increase, she looks and acts better .

Scribbles was on Iams indoor cat and Oscar was on pretty pets and sunseed-YUCK! We order them Organix indoor cat now via Amazon since the stores here don't carry it anymore. We have recently introduced adding a few drops of baby food on top which eventually was a hit. Either way, my boys are monster poopers

I feel like the more they poo (as long as it's not bad poos) the better, since they're getting rid of the wastes faster.

Keep in mind that lower end foods tend to have corn as a first or second ingredient. Corn is a filler - it's not really digested, which means it all comes out as poop instead of actually being used by the body. With higher end foods, corn is rarely even an ingredient, so more of what goes in is being digested and absorbed into the system which means less comes out in the form of poop.

So if you switched your dog/cat/hedgie from a crappy chow food (Purina dog chow, Meow mix, etc) to a high end food (Blue Buffalo, Solid Gold, etc), less poop = a good thing. Unless they're constipated lol, that's not good at all.

When Digg came home from the petstore he was on either Mazuri or Spikes Delight. I think it was Mazuri though, and he pooped like crazy. When I switched him to RC babycat he pooped less. And then we discovered that mealies constipate him so now that those are cut back a lot I'd say he poops normal. (in between when he came home and when he was pooping less haha)
