Default I cant find a baby food she wont ignore.

I've tried banana flavored, apple, strawberry banana or something like that, and just tried two different flavors with meat. But she ignores them. How can I get her to actually try it? I want to offer more variety than her kibble. I know she likes mealworms, but the closest place to get them is an hour away, so they're a once in a while thing. I tried crushing up some kibble and mixing some baby food with it, but nothing. I've also tried natural sensations cat treats, but still nothing. Any ideas/advice?D:

Yeah I've seen where a lot of them are into sweet potatoes. I tried vegetables with chicken and macaroni and beef with veggies but nooope she's not having it :l lol. I'll just go buy one of everything and see how that goes I suppose xD

Try just plain foods rather than the mixes. Just regular sweet potatoes, or just regular chicken. Just one strong taste might be more appealing to her. The meat ones (chicken, turkey, beef), sweet potatoes, and peas have all been favorites of Lily's. Also make sure that they're room temperature or maybe slightly warm (test temperature on the inside of your wrist, and make sure you stir so there's no hidden hot pockets) and see if that increases interest at all.

Do you give your hedgehog baby food as a special treat or as a supplement or for some other reason? Just curious, I've seen some posts about baby food but I haven't been able to find anything that says why you would be feeding that. I'm a newbie, trying to get as much info as I can -- thanks

Most people feed it as kind of a treat, something different than their usual cat food. The veggies and such could be beneficial for giving them vitamins & other necessary thing. As far as we know, everything they need is in the cat food, but can't hurt to give them a fresher form of things in fruits/veggies. Then there's also a handful of people that were trying a holistic approach to diet, limiting or eliminating cat food and feeding just meat/fruits/veggies/insects. Baby food worked well for this as well.

........I personally wouldn't do this. Syringe feeding can be scary for a hog that hasn't experienced it and if you aren't syringing for a real reason (giving medicine, syringing food into a hedgie that isn't able to eat by itself), it would be silly to stress the hog out. The most I've done as far as forcing my hedgehog to eat something is to rub a bit of baby food on her lips. I've tried that twice because it seemed as if she didn't even realize it was food She licked it up, but showed no interest in the stuff in the bowl. Some hogs just don't want special treats. We don't need to force feed them.

Amelia didn't even touch watermelon before. I rubbed a piece of her kibble on it, and she sniffed it and took a lick... then this happened:

... so, it worked. :P
