Default Not interested in live food at all? 0.o

Tried putting 4 mealworms in Gizmos bowl today. I figured from videos Ive seen online that he'd be on them like a spider-monkey! But alas, I put them in his cage @ 2PM today and its 11:15 now and still no chow-fest. Is that a bad sign? Are there some hedgies that dont prefer live food or.....? Hope its nothing serious n he's just playing pickie.... -Ben

I'm very new at being a hedgie owner (just brought my little girl home 3 weeks ago), but I don't think it's serious that they don't like live mealies. My little Nuala turned her nose up at a live cricket and mealworm when the vet tried to intice her to open her mouth. The vet said that sometimes if they are saw far domesticated, they aren't interested in the live things anymore.

If she's never had them before she may not realize it's something to eat. As gross as it sounds you could try breaking it in half and then offer again, I've heard of people kinda putting it on their lips after doing it also and it seems to work in some cases.

My hedgie had no idea what to do with meal worms when I first tried live feeding and just put them in her bowl. She didn't catch on until I held them under her nose with my fingers. She's gone nuts for them ever since.
