Default Cat food

When I got my hedgehog from a breeder she was feeding her special kitty original cat food. she gave me a baggy full of it to use but I'm running out now and I can't find the special kitty cat food ANYWHERE!! What else could I get that works good and won't make her sick?

Depending on if you have enough to gradually change the food, you will need to make a trip to walmart to buy some special kitty cat food.
The nutrition section of the forum has some good information on changing diets, mixes, what to look for in a diet, and suggested brands.

Special Kitty is a Walmart brand so you should be able to find it there. It's a pretty low quality food so you might want to also get something better to slowly switch her to.

I was just using what the breeder gave us, she told me not to switch it to anything because it would make my hedgehog sick and potentially kill her I didn't know special kitty wasn't a good brand for her

You don't want to make the switch drastically, but you absolutely can switch gradually. Just slowly start adding more of the new kibble you want while phasing out the old kibble. Eventually she'll be completely on the new stuff.

That special kitty original is low quality. Main ingredients are: "Poultry By-Product Meal, Corn Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, Ground Whole Wheat, Brewers Rice"

I suggest switching to a higher quality cat food. Mix whatever you have left of that low quality stuff with a higher quality, slowly working in more and more of the high quality stuff.

Probably want to avoid that breeder in the future.

You definitely don't want to feed your hedgy anything with grain in it. The higher quality grain-free is better for your baby. When we got our baby, they told me to feed him the 8in1 Ultra-Blend Select Hedgehog Diet...it's loaded with garbage! I feed him only grain free!

Not all grains are created equal. Many times the grain free versions of food are just as unhealthy as the ones containing grain.
