Default Switching foods?

So I recently bought the Blue Buffalo's Longevity for Mature cats and I wanted to try to feed him this. He was eating the 8 in 1 Ultra Blend Hedgehog commercial food before. So I have 2 questions..

Is it ok to just continue feeding him the 8 in 1 Ultra Blend Hedgehog food or should I switch/mix it with cat food?

What is the best way to transition your hedgehog into a different type of food without starving him or anything?

The first day I bought it I turned his food into 60% of his regular food and 40% of the new one, but he didn't eat that much so it worried me. Yesterday, the second day, I got rid of it and he's eating regularly. Tonight I'm going to give it another try but only putting 25% of the new one in his food bowl. I feel bad for making him switch foods, which makes him not want to eat.

I don't even think he's tried eating his new food yet.

Its always recommended to do a gradual switch. But generally when your feeding a low quality commercial hedgehog food and add a high quality cat food they may ignore they're old food all together. Which is okay, they're poo may be green for a little but it should be fine after awhile.

Most commercial hedgehog foods don't provide all the nutrients needed for a hedgehog and can leave them under weight and malnourished.

If you hedgie absolutely won't touch that cat food you can normally return it for a different one that he will like.

Some hedgehogs take awhile to eat anything new but normally once they taste a good quality cat they won't even eat the hedgehog food or will eat much less of it

A hedgehog food is fine but if you browse enough here you will read many people who saw wonderful results when the dropped the hedgehog food or added a cat food for their hedgehog in change in poop smell (usually less smelly), overall more stable weight, and more active.

It is very rare a hedgehog will turn down a cat food offered with a hedgehog food, Blue buffalo Basics any of the three are a huge hit for most hedgehogs

Try crushing the cat food up and put a few cat food kibble in and then sprinkle the crushed cat food dust on the hedgehog food, once he tastes the food I bet he'll try the cat kibble
