Default CHEs - the bane of my existence!

Some of you may recall that in the past year I have gone through 3 CHE due to them breaking during travels or apartment remodelling.

Well I just went to check Annabell's cage & the temperature is low, but the thermostat green light is on. I put my hand near the CHE, nothing - no heat. I try screwing/unscrewing it, flicking the switch, still nothing. Then I plugged her day lamp into the themostat, which doesn't turn on. I try it in the other thermostat plug, doesn't turn on. The dang thermostat is still running the green light but not sending any current to the plugs to turn on the CHE!!! So now I need a new thermostat. Urg. Add that I had to order that one in (for some reason the stores here don't carry thermostats).

Yeah, my Reptitemp 500R broke on me like that within a few month's use > I opted for the Zilla Temperature Controller (500W) this time because of the bad experience with the Reptitemp

I can't find them here, except for at some Reptile store in a shady part of town... and it's overpriced (thank you QC and Canada taxes...) so I ordered mine from Pets and Ponds (online retailer)

This one is based in Mississauga so you shouldn't have any problems They also ship in like 2-4 days so it's pretty fast ^_^

Erg! The CHE broke AGAIN!!!! Thursday night we're sitting in the living room and hear a loud POP. Checked her cage, nothing out of the ordinary. Checked again later & the CHE was cold. Everything is unplugged now. Of course I'm now in a rural area & the petstores around only carry reptile heating pads & not CHEs. Trip to the city is in my future.

What CHE do you use that you've had good luck with? I've been buying ZooMed from Pets Unlimited but if I have to keep buying a new CHE every couple months, I'm gonna go broke!

my CHE just broke too. That's 2 CHEs in less than a month. I think I'm done with CHEs.
