It depends on the size of your cage

I agree, with silvercat, it does depend on the cage size. However, most use 100 or 150 for larger cages.

i've heard that 150 is an overkill.

Depends on the size of your cage and the room temp. We need to know that before we can answer acurately.

Sweetie's setup is around 60'' long--it's divided into two 30'' compartments, so i'm thinking one lamp per each unit.

60" long you are going to need two lamps. I have both 100 and 150 but use the 100 the most. I recommend buying it at a local store such as Petsmart that allows exchanges. That way, if the ones you get is the wrong size, you can exchange them.

Don't forget to get a themostat too as you don't want to overheat the cage and also save you energy ($) by turning off the CHE when not in use. There are lots of choices out there but they're sometimes hard to find... the only one I found locally was the Reptitemp at a small local pet store. You can find them online too, and the ones with specific temperature readings are better. I personally got a Ranco one and wired it up myself. I took some measurements for CHE performance and if you're interested I posted them at: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7235

I have a ReptiTemp thermostat myself. Works well. I had to call around to the petstores to find one that carried ReptiTemp products, then they special ordered it in for me (no extra cost).
I use a 150 W. My apartment is generally pretty warm however the cage is entirely wires, so heat can easily disipate from the lamp into the rest of the apartment.

I did find this breakdown online: http://www.infraredheaters.com/petwarm.htm
Item Number: CE-60
Wattage: 60W
Gal Size/Color: 10-20 Gal
Item Number: CE-100
Wattage: 100W
Gal Size/Color: 30-40 Gal
Item Number: CE-150
Wattage: 150W
Gal Size/Color: 50-100 Gal

So you could calculate how many gallons your cage would hold (if it was closed of course) to determe.
