Default Heated Throw Blankets

Hi, I'm new to the forum, I was just wondering, can I get a heated throw blanket for the hedgehog I'm getting soon?

Welcome to the forum!

A heated throw blanket wouldn't be great for a main heating source. You need something that will heat the whole cage, not just the bottom (assuming that's what you were planning on using it for). It might serve a use as a partial cage covering, but you can use plastic or regular blankets to help hold in heat, and you don't want it to cover too much of the cage since they need 12-14 hours of light during the day.

The two most common heating methods are either space heaters (whole room) or CHE set ups (just the cage). There's more information about both of those here - https://www.hedgehogcentral.com/forum...implified.html

Also, since you're new to the forum and still in the research phase, here's a fantastic care book that you can download for free - http://www.westcoasthedgehogs.com/fi.../download.html It's the most up-to-date care book available and is extremely popular on the forum. If you have more questions or want more detail on something from the book, you can either search the forums or feel free to ask if you still can't find what you're looking for!

Thanks a lot! It was very helpful, I'll probably get my hedgehog in the middle of March (After we move)!

There are a few people on the Hedgehog Welfare list that use electric blankets as cage heat.

My concern would be that blankets are not designed to be left on indefinitely.
