Default What I am working with...

I live in a one bedroom apartment. It is not a bear to heat but I want to ensure that my hedgie is at a consistent and warm enough temperature without baking me. He has a two section, sterilite bin container. I bought a space heater with a thermostat, I plan on putting that in the room where his cage is. Also, I have a small hermit crab heating pad that I planned to put under the cage (directly below his house) and have that run on a timer. Also, I am a little concerned about lighting, so I was going to hook our regular lamp up to the timer also. However, this is a floor lamp and the light is angled upward. Should I opt for an alternative? Any input would be appreciated, let me know if this sounds like it will work, or be enough to keep him warm. Also, any suggestions for light will be appreciated.

The floor lamp will be fine. I used one for many years, and switched to a table lamp recently. You don't need bright light directed down on their cage, just for their cage to have light.

You may not need the heating pad. Put a thermometer in the hedgehog's cage to monitor the temperature and adjust the space heater as needed. I have used space heaters for many years and so long as you can keep the temperature consistently in a safe range you don't usually need additional supplementation. The only time I've had to use additional was with older sick hedgehogs.
