Default Keeping Hedgehog Warm in Coldest Room

So my room is over our garage and is usually the coldest room in the house. I like to sleep with my room pretty cold because i get so hot easily and i was wondering how i could heat my hedgie or her cage sufficiently. My room's probably around 65 degrees normally and i bought her a k & h small animal heating pad but that won't warm the air around her apparently.. i have a sterilite bin with a top with holes in it so that should trap some of the heat but any other suggestions would be great... thank you!

A CHE set up would be your best option - it will heat the whole cage, but not heat the room, so you'll both be comfortable. Here's a thread that explains more about CHE set ups - viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4579

I heat Sophie's room to 65 degrees with an oil-filled radiator type room heater. Then I bump up the cage temperature to 75 degrees with 150 watt CHEs. She has two cages with a bridge connecting them. One of the cages is on an outside well and needs a little extra help. I have three layers of fleece that wrap the back and sides to provide a bit of insulation. At night, I cover much of the top with fleece which is very effective at slowing heat dissipation. I'm very pleased. Nothing is working overly hard and heating costs are reasonable. Winter lows have been in the teens this year, with highs in the 20s.

I've got three videos on heating. This might be the best for your question.

I did go to three CHEs. I didn't 'need' the third one, but like the extra control. I only use the top covers at night when the outside temperatures drop really hard. I don't use them at all during the day. Slowing heat loss means that the CHEs are off most of the time. This is only an issue on the outside wall. Her other cage has no cage wraps or covers at all. ... rs-2-a.jpg ... 2-a-cr.jpg ... rs-2-b.jpg
