He seems to be more active at about 73-74 (F), is that ok? I though to each their own personality and comfortable temps but this isn’t too low? When I first got him (last week) he was active at same temperature but I continued my research so I turned it up to 75-78 (F) but at that temp he seems to just sleep. 🏻 Advice? Input?

The “acceptable” range can be anywhere from 72-80 so if you’ve played around with different temps and he’s most active at a lower temp it’s totally fine! It’ll be dependent too on the season; I turn Christina’s thermostat down in the summer because my basement is naturally warmer in the summer so the thermometer could read anywhere from 72-74. It most certainly is up to each individual hog!

Yeah I figured it’ll depend on the season. I’m naturally a cold person so I keep my house on the warmer side anyway so lately I only need the turn his heat on at night. After I cleaned his cage today he was out roaming around, running on his wheel and having a snack!

Holly's okay to as low as 24.5 (c) and as high as 27 (c)
Her siblings from the same litter, like it at 22-23 (c) and no higher but will go as low 20 without being cold So yea defiantly very dependant on each individual hedgehog. |
