Would one of these be okay clamped to the top of the zoo zone 2 cage? (On the metal grating)? Looking at getting a better heater for the coming British winter months and thinking one of these is the way to go..

Yep! I have mine (in the dome, of course) put on top of cage wires.

Depends on the size of your cage. Also make sure that the lamp that you'll screw the CHE into and the thermostat that you'll plug the lamp into will handle the wattage of your CHE.
For example, on one cage, I use one CHE+lamp+thermostat rated to handle 500w. On another cage, I use two CHEs+two lamps+one thermostat rated to handle 1,000w. Each CHE is either 100w or 150w. All my lamps are 10" domes and are rated to handle at least 150w.

I personally would be hesitant to use a CHE with a zoo zone. Zoo zones are very enclosed, even more so than aquariums because they round the top opening. I'd be afraid of overheating. Normally I wouldn't recommend a heating pad, but with a zoo zone, IMO, the heating pad is a better option.
