Quick question?

I live in AK so it gets pretty cold in my house at night. Cold enough that it takes two CHE to keep a 106qt sterilite warm. My question is with the two CHE and a thermostat the easy temp to regulate has been between 76 and 80. Is this to hot? I try to get it down to 73-76 but that causes the temp to dip to low almost 68. So long story short is 76-80 a good temp range? I dont want to bake my little buddy.

Hedgehogs handle too hot better than too cold most of the time. But, yes, 76-80 is within the acceptable range, so it's fine. If you can tighten it up a little to be a little bit more consistent, that would be better, but you're probably fine at that range.

How would I tighten it up I am using the zilla 1000 watt thermostat and two 100watt CHE? Any suggestions? 76-80 has been my best. I think it only hit 89 because of residual heat from the CHE.

You might look at insulating the cage a bit so it's holding the heat a little better. Maybe put a piece of styrofoam underneath the cage. Also look at the cage location. Is it on the ground? If so, moving it up off floor may help. Or if it's near a window or an exterior wall, moving it to an interior wall may help.

I will try some of those. Right now I have him on the bathroom counter with a towel under his cage.
