Default Scared of heat lamp?

So I recently purchased a new heat lamp for my hedgie on Wednesday and it's now Saturday and she has not ran on her wheel since Tuesday night. I was using a space heater for her before with a blanket covering her cage. Now that her cage is exposed she won't run, I've taken her to the vet and they said she is healthy and looks overall good. Is it possible she could be scared of the heat lamps over top of her cage?

It's emits a red light. The vet told me that I'm theory it shouldn't bother them but I'm not sure.

You need to use a ceramic heat emitter, not a red bulb. They can see the red light, and many hogs won't be active at all when there is any light. You'll also need a lamp rated for a CHE bulb.

The red light is probably why he is not active. You need to buy the one that doesn't emit light like this one : http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Exo-Terra-Rep...0AAOSwu4BVnsib also you have to buy the lamp that fits with it because it become really hot. You also need a thermostat to regulate the temperature

Thanks everyone! I have a really good thermometer ( two in fact ) and they are always a good temperature level. I'll go get a new bulb today and hope that works better!

As well as getting a new bulb you need to make sure the lamp you have is rated for a CHE, not all lamps are. Unless it says on the lamp that you can use a CHE you'll need to get a proper lamp. You also need a thermostat (not the same thing as a thermometer) to plug the lamp into that will control the heat emitter. It will turn it one and off as needed to keep the cage temperature constant no matter what the room temp is.
