Default help needed

I have a young hedgehog to which I have no idea how old it is.
When I first got him/her 3days ago it was very friendly, eatting well and running around the cage, now it just wants to sleep and I have to syringe feed it, I have never looked after a hedghog before and need help please.
This hedgehog was found in the wild and is a New Zealand hedgehog.

Wild hedgehogs are very different than the kind of hedgehogs that are bred to be pets. As hard as it may be, you should put the hedgehog back were you found it.

I didn't find it, our local SPCA gave it to me to look after until it was old enough to be released back into the wild which I will do as soon as it can look after itself.
I am thinking it is only just over 3 weeks old.

Then you should contact your local SPCA about how to care for it, or take it to a local wildlife vet.

I wish I could but no one seems to be of any help over here.
Thanks for the advice.

Hm, I just kind of wonder, if the SPCA does't know about hedgehogs, and you have never cared for a hedgehog before, how did they expect you to take care of it? Seems kind of unfair to just send you off to fend for yourself with no knowledge or support.

I suppose the basic care principles would be keep it warm, keep it fed, and keep it hydrated. If you've got syringe feeding down then keep that up, and syringe water if it's not drinking.

This forum is mostly devoted to African Pigmy Hedgehogs, so we don't know a lot about wild New Zealand ones. This might help you a bit:

Good luck!

Thank you very much for that link, it is very helpful.
I tried to look for New Zealand sites but google kept sending me to overseas sites.
I am pleased to say my little fella has been out and got himself/her a feed but as yet I haven't seen it drink so I will have to syringe feed it the water.
My daughter thinks I'm a nutter and need help I am just an animal lover.

You might want to check with some of the United Kingdom hedgehog rescue sites, they may be able to help you with your lil one. Good luck!
