Default Another mite question

I took Popper for a health and wellness check the other day and the vet said he should be treated for mites- cause of how his quills are on his back towards his rump. I also have ferrets, cats and a dog. Can they (and us humans) get these mites? Do you think I should get them all treated? How can you tell if they do have mites. Ferrets are itchy little critters anyway. I'm just hoping the answer is no!

Default Re: Another mite question

Your other animals should be fine The mites hedgies get are species specific so you may only have to worry about it if you have another hedgehog. If they treat your hedgie make sure they do it with Revolution. Some vets try to use Invermectin and its had some very bad and fatal side affects. If you do a search for it you will be able to read some of the reports. I just wanted to put that out there cause sometimes vets can be persistent with something and its dangerous.
