Default Weight & food

I have some questions about weight and food:
1. Jessie is around 6-7 months old and was bigger when I got her (was pregnant) and is skinnier now (baby Zoey is 5 and a half weeks old). My question is how much should Jessie weight, and is it okay that she is getting skinnier now since the baby is weening?
2. How much should Zoey weigh?
3. I am feeding them chicken soup for the soul light, with some Halo mixed in. Is this okay? The chicken soup seems a bit big for Zoey, should i crush it a bit so it is easier to handle?
4. I bought mealies for Jessie, how often should I give them to her? And how many?
5. When can Zoey have mealies?

Thanks

I am not knowledgeable enough to answer all your questions but you may want to look at this thread on hedgehog weights. I know it talks about adults and babies so may help you.

It sounds like the range of weights is very wide and more important is their size and shape. It is interesting that she is getting skinny when the baby is weening though, I would have thought she would struggle more with that when the baby was nursing all the time.

You may want to crush the Chicken soup. I know that Truffle can manage it but he is 12 weeks old. I dont know much about Halo though.

Mealies I think most people give them nightly or maybe every other night? I give Truffle them nightly and give him 4-5. They are fatty though so you need to watch if your hedgies start to get fat. I have started to add crickets in as well for Truffle. Please wait for someone else to let you know about when you can start them with the baby. I imagine you want to wait until she is fully weaned and on a stable diet but others who have raised babies will surely help you with that.

Every hedgehog is diffrent my females active and when not prego she gets to 350 grams no mater what she eats she runs a lot.others are 450. After babies my girl gets down to 290. You have yo remember her babys 5 weeks old almost weaned they feed on her so she mite get a little thin. What's her weight? Once she stops feeding the baby all her food goes to her. Other breeders. Will prob tell you better im new to breeding so I am still learning

I was told to help with weaning and to keep the mom full of protein and keep some weight on her is to mix kitten kibbles with the regular kibble. This way she gets the extra nutrients and when the baby weans its nutritious for the baby as well and the kibble is a tad softer. Chicken Soup is great food, that's what I feed mine. I don't know of Halo though.

As for weight, all hedgehogs at all ages weigh and look different. But I'm new as well so you might want to wait for a more experienced person to come along with these answers

I have been mixing the Halo and Chicken noodle soup, but I think I will start crushing the Chicken noodle so that it is easier for zoey to eat. About the meal worms, I figured $ every other night was good. So I weighed them and Jessie is just under 300 grams, and Zoey is just under 200. Is this alright? When can Zoey start getting mealies?

Hedgies come in all shapes and sizes. The general range is 200-1000g.

So we really can't comment on how much they should weigh, as body shape makes a huge difference. As long as they both LOOK healthy and you weigh them regularly, then there isn't much to worry about.
