Default bathing a hedgehog

I am a new hedgehog owner and I was wondering, when bathing, are they really temperature sensitive? I imagine you should bath them in Luke warm water. I worry they might get to cold? is this a common issue?
how often should I bath my hedgehog? every month? what sort of soap would you recommend?

thank you

Hedgehogs should not be bathed more than twice a month, they tend to have dry skin, and bathing them too much can cause their skin to get really dry.

Water temperature wise, should be warm but not hot or cold. Use your wrist to test the temperature of the water, if it feels too hot for your wrist, its too hot for the hedgehog.

Baths aren't very long, enough to get your hedgehog clean, this is to avoid the water getting cold. Many are temperature sensitive, basically you don't want the water to get cold. Afterwards you want to snuggle with them in a towel until they are 99% dry, so they don't catch a chill.

Foot baths are different than full baths, a foot bath is just to clean poopy feet, where you only provide enough water to get their feet wet.

Aveeno unscented Oatmeal Body Wash is what most people use for soap.

Bath time should depend on how dirty your hedgehog gets, some have very dirty hedgehogs that get dirty from their wheels, others (like mine) somehow manage to keep themselves clean and require very little bathing.

Hope that helps.

I noticed at my store the other day that Aveeno seems to be adding scents to their body washes that were previously unscented - so if you don't find anything unscented in the regular section, look in the baby aisle!

If you also notice your hedgehog is getting dry skin get some flax oil and add it to the water your hedgehog is being bathed in

My hedgehogs love it when I put their towels in the dryer, so when they come out of their baths they have a nice warm towel to snuggle in
