Default Only one exotic pet specialist in my area...

And he's been on holiday for forever. I'm getting really worried. I brought my hedgie in for a check up and they found mites. He was apparently balding in the back. It wasn't too bad so they told me to give him olive oil baths for 7 days... But during the course of the week, he got this weird swollen left eyelid. And then I noticed he wasn't eating much. And he started losing some fur behind his left ear... And when I checked on him just now, BOTH his eyelids are swollen and he's blinking weird.

I am a very very very worried mommy. What do I do?

The only way to treat mites is through meds. I'm very surprised they didn't treat him. Go back to the vet and ask for him to be treated with Revolution!! Not invermectin.

I went to the vet today. He didnt prescribe meds. Just continue the oil.... And he gave him eyedrops for the swollen eyelids. My hedgie is starting to scratch his ears... Im worried the mites have gotten into them

Whyyyy are they not giving you revolution!? Did they do a skin test to see if there are mites?

I feel so bad for your hedgie because olive oil isn't going to do much at all... Especially since it's getting so bad. I see the title of your thread so I know there's only one vet in your area. Would u mind driving a little farther to go to a different vet?
