Default Spot On treatment

So my breeder recommended that I buy this for when I get my baby to help with parasites such as mites. http://www.vetuk.co.uk/rabbit-suppli...spot-on-p-1501
Does anyone use anything like this? Is it recommended? Is this particular brand safe? I've not seen it mentioned here before so thought I'd check
Thanks

No, nothing with Ivermectin or Ivomec is safe for hedgies.

Many deaths have been reported.

There are many threads advising against Ivermectin.

You can use Revolution but I can't remember what its called in the UK. Please don't use the Spot On, its too dangerous.

Revolution is called Stronghold in the UK.

Thanks. I will remember that.

I've emailed the breeder and asked her not to use Ivermectin on my hedgehog or any of her other ones. Hopefully she will agree.

*Update*

I've just had a very disheartening email back from the breeder

"Dear Heather
I believe more my experience and my vet than any forum run by not-qualified people. Xeno is medicine and is used when necessary. Ivermectin is widely used to fight mites when is needed. I used it when needed since 3 years - NONE of my hedgehogs had any side effects (other than mites dissapearing or maybe dry skin time to time!). You should not go crazy and read about bad stuff! It is same as you ready diseases encyclopaedia and then discovering you have half of them! My hedgehog babies are 100% healthy and happy. NEVER had any problems related to Ivermectin and we raised nearly 80 hedgehogs !! So please do stop panic."

I've replied saying I can't stop her from using this with other hedgehogs but to please not use it with mine. I just hope she listens and that Erin doesn't get mites in the next 20 days before I can pick her up
