Default Quilling or mites?

I noticed Pomme's skin looked a little bit dry recently, but apparently hedgie skin dries out quite easily... She has also been scratching herself a lot.

However, she is just over 9 weeks old now and I noticed a couple of quills around her cage this morning. She has definitely lost a few off the crown of her head, around her standard reverse mohawk (I know they are meant to not have quills here, but the area of 'baldness' has spread...) this part of her head looks very red and sore, but she doesn't seem grumpy and lets me touch and stroke her, even on her face.

Basically I am asking if redness of the skin normal for quilling hedgies or if I should be worried and see a vet...

Having a red and sore looking area is not normal for quilling but they can get an ingrown quill. How large an area is red and sore looking? Usually an ingrown quill is a raised red bump around one of the quills but can extend to around other quills as well.

It's a larger area than that, it looks very pink... she's acting normal and I took her to the vets last week to check her skin (she had scabby front legs, which have completely healed up now).

Here's a picture of the poor thing

This is the only area on her body that is pink...the vet said if she had mites she would be affected all over her body, I'm sure of other signs to look for really. She has been itching a little and lost the quills from this patch on her head... All I can think of is new quills poking through making it a bit red as the blood is going to it?
