Just wondering if there are any specific things to do to keep your hedgie as healthy as you can

other than the temperature and food

Welllllll, I wouldn`t say easy. Hedgies are exotic animals and have very specific needs. You really need to be prepared before getting one. They also like to make their owners worry. A lot.

And to add to Olympia's post: we gotta let them BE exotic animals. They're not here for our entertainment, they're here to make us slaves to their poopy boots, poopy wheel and general care and feeding. The sooner you accept your role in hedgie 'ownership' (pah!), the happier you will both be.
