Default Daytime lighting

So on the gloomy yucky days (like today here, it's rainy) when there's little to no decent daylight, should I leave the room lights on? As winter approaches our daylight becomes shorter too, I dont want Pippin to suffer for our poopy weather! Thanks in advance

Yup, that'd be a good idea. Gloomy days is why we so often recommend that people just leave a light on near the hedgehog's cage all day. It can get pretty dark on rainy/stormy days & that can cause a problem as well. If you want to make it easier on yourself, you can set up a small lamp or floor lamp near his cage that's plugged into a timer. Then it'll turn on & off at the same times every day, regardless of whether you're there or if you forget.

Yup, I just leave the light on in "her room" all day. The clouds can roll in fast when i'm at work and I don't have to worry about a hibernation attempt

Sorry for commenting so late (I'm fairly new to this site), but I've been searching all over the Internet and can't find an answer to my question. I am using an old heat lamp for my hedgehogs light source, so can I use a regular household bulb or do I have to get one of those special daytime bulbs from the pet store?

Welcome to the forums! Usually it's best to start your own thread to ask a question, but this isn't too far off topic or a very old thread, so don't worry about it this time. Just letting you know for future reference! And if you're not sure how to start a new thread, when you click on a forum section, there's a "new thread" button in the top left hand corner.

A regular household bulb works just fine for the light source, it doesn't have to be anything fancy. Heating set ups cost enough, so it's nice to be able to use something cheaper for light sources.
