Default Inflamed nodes in neck ¿is it serious?

Good evening, everyone.

Yesterday, I took Rorschach (my 19 months old male hedgehog) to the vet for his half-yearly appointment. The doctor told me everything is fine, except two things: one, he needs more fat in his diet for his skin and two, the nodes in his neck are a little inflamed.

That second thing really freaked me out, but the vet said is probably nothing serious: Rorschach had a little cold last year, for which he took ampicillin (.1 ml every 12hr for 10 days). The sneezing and snot cleared and he was fine, except for some sneezing in december. Now, the vet said the inflammation is probably a leftover from the cold and she gave me meloxicam to take care of it, but I've been wondering if this is really nothing to worry about or this could evolve in something really nasty.

If someone knows more about this medical issue, or if I should be worried and keeping a closer eye on him, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

The nodes (or lymph nodes) swell when we or any other animal get sick. If I were you I'd get a second opinion or have your vet check for anything else just in case.

However I'm no expert. Someone more knowledgeable will no doubt make themselves heard.

Just wanted to send you well wishes

Thank you for the wishes!

I'm taking him to the vet two weeks after he finishes the meds, so she can see if the swelling went down or not, and from there I suppose she's going to tell me if it's serious, but I'm still a little worried for my little boy

So it's a natural process? I really don't know a thing about medicine, I didn't even know they could swell when they (or us) get sick :S

Well, thanks again for the wishes I really appreciate it!
