Question allergic to filtered water...??

today Yuki has been scratching way more frequently and aggressively than usual and tonight i found 3 irritated, pink/red spots on his back and a couple of quills in his cage that weren't bloody at all, but i'm assuming he scratched them out. also, there is a bit of blood on both of his rear toes and i can't even imagine how he managed that. i only noticed these things when i walked into his room and turned on the light because i heard him knock his water dish over, which rarely ever does. he's running as much as usual, so his feet can't be hurting too badly?

anyway, i gave him a little "bath" (ie. i put him in some water and poured warm water over his back), but i didn't add olive oil or oatmeal because of his wounds. upon checking his feet thoroughly, i couldn't see any hair wrapped around them and the blood seemed to be coming from the base of his nails?

anyway, after drying him and a little laptime i put him back into his cage and observed him for a while... occasionally he would run up to his (now refilled) water bowl, sniff it and then jerk away violently as if repulsed by it? even though he's obviously thirsty because he drank his bath water? which got me to thinking about a possible allergy to filtered water because literally nothing else in the cage has changed. he never goes outside, has no new wooden furniture and there are no other animals around for him to possibly have gotten mites. i've had him for going on 5 months now. the only thing that has changed is his water. i recently bought a Brita water filter jug for myself and had JUST started transitioning Yuki over to water from it from bottled water literally a day ago.

could his sever itchiness/scratching be linked to the water change and his bloody toes be linked to his scratching....? i'm at a loss... any thoughts would be appreciated!

edit: ....and right after posting this he knocked over his water dish AGAIN. he never does this! the water has to be connected somehow...
