Default Strange stuff on his wheel?

Hey guys, so I slept over at my boyfriend's the other day (for our anniversary) and because of the colder weather, I left Kashi at home instead of bringing him with me.

Today I came home to a messy wheel, food eaten, the usual, but then I found some strange spit-like substance on his wheel along with the poop/pee :/
I have no idea what it is
Here's a photo of what it looks like

What do you think happened? I hope he isn't sick

I don't know if you can tell, but it looks, kind of... bubbly? Like it's foam >_> That's why I thought spit from maybe anointing but I don't see what he could anoint with in the cage :S

Did you wash the wheel with vinegar solution before leaving? The reason I ask is one time my girl hedgie annointed to the vinegar. I always rinse and wash again to get any vinegar residue off but must have had some of the solution on my fingers because she went right over and smelled where I had touched and annointed.

No, I always use Dawn dish soap. I've been using the same scent ever since we got the wheel, and he hadn't anointed with it after the first time :/

I had been thinking the same thing as LarryT but actually after looking at it and what others have said, I'd say he annoited with something on the wheel, with what god knows, but on the right side of the mess you have dried foam, and then in the middle and to the left you have something that looks like a backwards F, aka tongue marks in the foam. That would be my guess.

Do you use any kind of hand cream or anything, cause its also near the edge of the wheel like per say if you were carrying it, it'd kind of be the same area your thumb would be touching.

I wonder if he got a piece of kibble stuck in his mouth and had a mouthful of spit and vomited it up. Usually after they vomit the offending kibble up, they gobble it back up. That's what it looks like to me and what happens with my gang.

I was going to say, it definitely looks like he threw up. That's what I saw when I first brought Loki home in the car and he lost his lunch, so to speak.

Thank you all for your input!
After reading all your comments I've concluded that Kashi probably choked on a kibble. I'm not sure why he would do that on his wheel, but you know, silly hedgies I guess

He seems fine today (I checked on him last night too and he seemed fine)
