Exclamation Parasites & Ivermectin

Needles is my first hedgehog. And I love him dearly. Lately, I've noticed that he's been scratching a lot and I thought it must be mites. At the same time, I noticed that his belly, feet and ears got super crusty and flaking off a lot! I bought him to a vet and the doctors told me that it wasn't a mite problem. It was some sort of parasite infection. When she was about to give Needles an injection, I asked her what is inside the syringe. She told me it was Ivermectin! I got so worried, because I've read so many posts about hedgehog deaths after using Ivermectin. I requested for Revolution, she said it will be ineffective because it's not a mites problem. Luckily he's okay now, still scratching though.

My question now is, should I bring Needles back to the vet for his second vacc?
The vet told me to bring him back here after 2 weeks. (Ivermectin again!)
What should I do?? D: Please help!

Did the vet say what kind of parasite? Can you ask them what parasite and then why Revolution wouldn't work on them? Maybe ask if there's any other medication at all that would help. I'd be very leery of going back for the second injection of Ivermectin, personally, but I'm not sure what else could be done as an alternative.

I agree. I would want to know what type of parasite and what other options there are. Ivermectin can also be used orally, and I think even topically. Either would be a preferable option if it has to be ivermectin.

The vet told me that it was mange mites. She told me that Revolution won't work on mange mites because unlike ordinary mites, mange mites live under the skin. I really don't know what to... I got infected now as well and the red rashes are super ITCHY!
