Unhappy Vitamin E Oil base items?

Sam, my lovely little hedgie, is a bit dry at the moment. I wanted to put a drop of Vitamin E either on him but was wondering:

A. How often? Daily? Weekly?

B. The only OIl form I could by is VItamin E with an oil base made up of Soybean, Corn, Wheat Germ, Sesame and Lemon Oil - are any of those toxic to Hedgehogs?

Thanks in advance for your input!

I use flax seed oil capsules, they can be found at any drugstore and most all department stores in the vitimin section. I just poke a hole in the capsule and squirt in on the food once or twice a week. You can also put it in the bathwater or directly on the skin.
I have never used Vitamin E but I know alot of people do so maybe one of them will chime in soon

Mustard's skin was a little dry last week so I used flaxseed oil in the water bath. I also put flaxseed oil in her food twice a week. The bath with the oil really helped though!

I want to buy some of the flaxseed oil to feed Sam as the E on his skin is helping but I don't know that I want him to ingest it.

Can I put the flaxseed oil right on the dry food? He still won't eat anything other than his daily food and dried mealworms. So putting it on boiled egg or meat is still useless.

Man, if I ate and ran like Sam I'd be a size 2....

I have been putting flax seed oil on Zoey since we've had her, about 3 weeks now. Her tattered ears are getting better, but she doesn't like it. I have the softgels & just poke a hole in them & drip a little on her. One drip on each ear & maybe a drip on her back. Especially when I first got her & she was really dry.
And I know what you mean - my boy Cholla has been running about 13 miles a night ever since I started keeping track w/ a pedometer on his wheel. If I did that, I could eat whatever I wanted! And still be a hottie!

My husband was wondering if we could track Sam!! Do you use a bike pedometer? My storm wheel should arrive this week. I'd love to know how far Sam is going.

Here's a link to a thread about tracking your hedgie's nightly running. There is a link included to the original thread that shows what the pedometer looks like & also how to set it up. It's pretty easy - I did it by myself, without my husband's help.
I would highly recommend setting up the pedometer to anyone that can. Not only is it really interesting, but I think it will also help to keep up with the hedgies health. A dramatic change in wheeling habits can be an indication of illness.
