Question Nose Question

Hi all-
So, I have a weird question. I am VERY new to hedgehog ownership, as in I just picked up my little darling baby Bailey yesterday. I noticed last night when I picked her up to socialize she had a very small piece of something perhaps bedding fibers (I use carefresh- but rethinking it) stuck on her nose that she looks like she has been trying to lick off but is otherwise not too concerned with it. When I try to get a good look or help her she puts her quills up because she isn't quite used to me yet to let me near her face. She seems to be breathing fine, But I am still worried. Should I just let her try to get it off on her own, or intervene? If I should, how do I go about removing it gently, without scaring her? Secondary question, are their noses supposed to be dry and warm or cold and wet?

Thanks In Advance!

Welcome to the forum! If you haven't seen it, this is a lovely care-guide for hedgehogs.

Hedgehog noses should be cold and wet.

I have no idea how to get a fibre off the nose of an uncooperative hedgehog. You don't want to get whatever is stuck to her nose in water to rinse it off, since that can lead to a URI. Maybe a damp hand cupped so she'll try to push under it with her nose, wiping it off?

Thanks for the quick reply! That is a very good suggestion. I got a closer look today when she was cuddling with me and i think it's not a fiber at all but crusty snot. She has mucous coming out of one nostril. I hope she isn't getting a URI. Otherwise, she seems to be breathing fine out of the other nostril.
