So my little guy is nearly three months and I brought him in for a wellness and "meet the vet" check. He did so well! The vet checked his tummy, legs, teeth, ears, eyes, and everything was fine. She said she had never seen a friendlier hedgehog. Each time she went to check the next invasive thing she was worried he would ball up but I kept telling her I have never seen him even *try* to make a ball. I don't even know if he knows how! Haha
![]() Anyways, the point of the post is that he is really healthy but his skin was so dry she thought he might have mites. She did a skin test and he is totally clean but his skin is apparently severely dry. It has actually gotten better since I've had him home, and he is quilling so I'm sure that doesn't help. However, she gave me some Omega 3 oil blend to put in his food. Anyone use this before? I put .05 ml (the tinest does ever, haha!) on some cooked ground turkey last night. Little guy ate it right up! So any success/failures with the Omega 3 oils in food on the board? I could always try to find flax capsules instead but as he is SO dry I thought it might be better to get him to produce more oil instead of just putting it on him.

The Flaxseed oil I use has the Omega 3 oil blend in it.
It's all I've found actually I'm not sure if other places sale it without the Omega 3 oil's in it. I put it on my bunches food when they had dry skin as well as a rinse on them in the bath. I use a Multi Grain with milled Flaxseed. to sprinkle on there food now. It has the Omega 3 oils in it as well and high fiber. It keeps them "regular" and seems to keep their skin healthy. I still use the Flaxseed rinse in the bath but I no longer fut the Flaxseed on there food. (They didn't like it on their food)

I had Sylvie on Flax seed oil (in the food) for a good while but to no luck for her horribly horribly dry skin (I'm talking giant flakes, her back is dark grey but with the dry skin looked white). She now get's a 1mm dose of Sunshine Factor each night. She LOVES the taste of it & within a week I noticed a huge improvement in her skin. Now it's not dry at all. (Been about 2 weeks maybe 3)

UGH! That was the name of the stuff! I was trying to remember what it was called and I couldn't remember anything other than "sun something-or-other"

no prob. there's one bttl that has a bird on it & then there's another that doesn't have an animal one. apparently they're both the same product, one is just branded for birds.

So it's been about a week and there is no improvement in his skin in the past week. Should I keep going with the oil, or make a switch to the Sunshine Factor?
Just wondering how long it normally takes to see an improvement in dry skin, normally. Thanks!
