Default Fleas and Weird Blisters! Help!!

So I have been battling a flea war with my cats for the past few weeks. As soon as I saw one on my cat, my hedgehogs were quarantined into the spare bedroom that the cats are not allowed in.

However tonight while bathing my baby Ares, I noticed he had some weird blister-like blemishes right by his arm. I flipped my lid and began a very thorough search of him and found a flea! I just about died, I was so upset.

I've attached a picture.

So far my other hedgehog, Athena, seems to be doing okay. I am going to hunt down some kitten revolution for them tomorrow. Should they make a trip to the vet as well? I am worried about what is on Ares.

I really appreciate the help!!

I would strongly suggest you take your hedgie to the vet. If there was nothing before the bugs and strange blisters appear right after, i would attribute it to bites, alergic reactions? or eggs or something the flea might've caused. Look at the blisters carefully, do they consist of many 'bubbles' clustered together? or does it have a smooth surface?
If they look like bubbles then they are eggs.

However, these are cat fleas and hedgehogs do not get fleas, this is because they have very short fur which isnt good for them. If they get on your hedgie they will leave almost immediately.

I'm no expert but i hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply SlapTag. They are definetly smooth. They kind of look like giant pimples, like white heads.

Also when we realize that the cats had fleas, we took away their fleece bedding and replaced it with shredded paper bevause I was worried the fleece could carry the fleas to them.

I don't know if paper bedding could have caused that. The breeder I got Athena from recommended the paper bedding to me.

Thanks again for the reply! The babies will be making a trip to the vet soon! I just wanted to know what I was dealing with first!

The triangular shaped bump looks like a nipple. The position is wrong probably because of the way you are holding his skin out. Look and see if you find more.

Although fleas don't stay on hedgehogs very long, they can get fleas. I would treat him along with the cats.
