Hedgie loses a few quills when I handle him

I've been noticing quill loss, a few a time, when handling Hedgie. I believe he's about 10 months old. I'm noticing bare spots when his quills are up, and can't remember if those have always been there, or it it's a result of the quill loss. First four pics are the spots w/quills up, 5th is a pic of him with his quills down. Thanks for any info!

Re: Hedgie loses a few quills when I handle him

That looks pretty normal to me. Keep in mind that "quills" are actually modified hairs, and like hairs they will be lost and replenished throughout his loss. I'm su re some of the more experienced owners will be by to give their opinions, but that looks like a healthy cinnicot to me.
