Default can I get her sick?

I have what I think is just a cold, but may be some other sort of infection. Is it possible to spread this to my hedgehog? I have been careful to wash my hands around her, but I'm thinking maybe I should just avoid holding her entirely while I'm contagious, if it can spread to her.

Hm, I am really interested in reading the replies to this thread. I think that since washing your hands and not sneezing on others can prevent people around you from getting sick, it should work for your hedgie as well though Get well soon!

I had a horrible cold about a month ago and it didn't seem to affect Zannah at all. I don't know if it's just not possible or if I lucked out though. I would imagine most things wouldn't be transmitted very easily between a hedgehog and a human but I don't know for sure.

The virus that causes the common cold is exclusive to humans. There are some strains of flu that can jump between humans and animals, but none that are known to affect hedgehogs so far. In general when sick it's good to just practice good hand washing habits, which should be done anyway with a small animal as a pet. There's no reason to avoid normal handling time while sick though.
