Default Please help! Balding spot

Hi guys I have had my hedgie for about 6 months and he’s been fine but for awhile he’s been losing so many quills but because I’m new I thought it was quilling but now I’m starting to see a bald spot where he’s losing so many even when he shakes they fall off I got him when he was 5 months already. I’m really worried he use to have skin flakes but he doesn’t anymore and he seems to eat and drink just fine and itch normally idk what to do and right now I can’t afdord to go to the vet 😞 please help

Really you need to see a vet to get a skin scraping. It could just be mites in which case you need the revolution treatment as its the most effective.

It if something more like bacterial or fungal infections then the vet can see that from a skin scraping and give the right medication.

To be honest theres not really much else anyone can suggests.

Could also be really bad dry skin which is easily sorted. Although it doesn't generally cause bold spots
But if its something like fungal infection its not wise putting anything onto them.
But you could use flaxseed oil once to twice a week onto the biscuit.
belties likes this.
